Continental Enamelling specializes in the manufacture of Vitreous Enamelled goods, also known as Porcelain Enamelling, which should not be confused with the unrelated, paint or powder coating applications.
The Vitreous Enamelling process involves the application of a thin layers of glass to a base metal of steel or cast iron, in which a glass formulation is fused to a substrate at temperatures commonly in excess of 800 degrees centigrade.
Vitreous Enamelled products like panel cladding, toilet partitioning, signs, writing surfaces and cooking appliances offer an unparalleled range of properties, which include scratch and abrasion resistance, chemical resistance against acids or alkali’s, non-combustibility, inhibition to bacterial growth, ease of cleaning, non-toxicity, absolute colour fastness (non-fading), extensive colour range and resistance to temperature and weather conditions.
Many International and National standards have been accepted, governing the procedures and practices used in the manufacture of these products.
Vitreous enamelled signs, writing boards and cladding panels typically have a life expectancy in excess of 25 years, making them an obvious choice.
